About & methodology

Disclaimer. NJ Well Water is an independent site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) or any laboratory. The data shown is a summary of historical tests and may be outdated or incomplete. It describes past wells in a town, not the well at any particular property. Verify requirements, certifications and prices with NJDEP and the lab before you act. Nothing here is legal, medical, engineering or real-estate advice.

Where the numbers come from

Town results come from NJDEP's dataset Private Well Testing Act Summary Results by Municipality for New Jersey, retrieved 2026-10-21. NJDEP describes it as a summary of the percentage of wells in each municipality that exceeded a maximum contaminant level (MCL) or secondary standard, for September 2002 to December 2024. For each parameter the dataset gives a percentage and the number of wells sampled, or a note such as "Less than ten wells sampled" or "Testing not required under PWTA". We reproduce those values exactly as published, with no rounding, estimating or combining.

Affiliate & advertising policy

Some pages have marked spaces reserved for future partners, such as water test kits or radon monitors. We have not joined any affiliate program yet, so those spaces contain no links. If that changes, links will be clearly disclosed and will never change the data.
